About this watch

The Omega Speedmaster X-33, launched in 1998, is a titanium quartz analogue-digital chronograph with a case of about 45 mm. It runs Omega’s calibre 1666 and carries several functions, including a chronograph, a countdown timer, alarms and a mission elapsed time display, and a loud multi-tone alarm. It was fitted with a titanium bracelet.

The X-33 was developed with NASA and space-agency astronauts as a more functional alternative to the mechanical Moonwatch, and Omega’s own history notes it as the 1998 member of the Speedmaster family. NASA qualified a version of it for use on shuttle and station missions.

The X-33 has a loyal following among collectors who prize a space-qualified Speedmaster, though it is seen as more of a tool than a design icon. The original 1998 calibre 1666 watch is long out of production, but the X-33 Skywalker has since been reissued in later generations.
