About this watch

The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M reference 2531.80, introduced in 1993, is a stainless steel automatic diver with a case of about 41 mm, a unidirectional rotating bezel, a helium escape valve at 10 o’clock and a water resistance of 300 metres. The dial is the famous “wave” pattern in blue, and the watch runs Omega’s calibre 1120, a movement based on the ETA 2892. It was also made in quartz and in other metals, with a separate 2541.80 reference for the quartz version.

The 300M revived the Seamaster’s diving heritage, after years in which the line was known for dress and quartz watches. It became widely known when Pierce Brosnan’s James Bond wore the blue-dial model in GoldenEye (1995), the first time Bond wore an Omega.

The community regards the 2531.80 as a modern classic and a relatively affordable one, with a solid movement and a recognisable look. The original generation has been replaced by updated Seamaster Diver 300M models, which remain in Omega’s collection, so the 2531.80 itself is out of production.
