About this watch

The Bohen Mille Mer Blue Dial is the Marseille brand’s 1,000-meter saturation diver, made in a limited edition of 80 pieces in this colour. Its case is made of SS316L steel to aerospace standard, measures 43 mm across the rotating ceramic bezel and 50 mm in length, and stands 15.9 mm tall without the domed sapphire crystal (17.5 mm with it). The case back is grade 5 titanium, and an antimagnetic cage, antimagnetic movement and non-magnetic steel case and bracelet make the whole watch anti-magnetic. The blue dial carries individually machined hour markers and Bohen’s modified Super-LumiNova X1, which the brand rates 50% brighter and twice as long-lasting as standard. The automatic Swiss movement is designed by Soprod and reworked for Bohen: 28,800 vph, 25 jewels, a 42-hour power reserve and regulation to ±4 seconds per day in five positions, with rhodium plating, perlage on the bridges and Côtes de Genève on the rotor.

The watch shows hours, minutes, seconds and the date. Its signature features are a crown at 12 o’clock, an automatic helium escape valve and what Bohen describes as the world’s first internal date magnifier on a double bridge, fitted between the hands and the domed sapphire because a magnifier cannot be glued to a domed crystal. The steel bracelet uses a tool-free quick-release link and a micro-adjustable buckle, and a silicone strap is included; the strap width is 24 mm. Bohen lists the Mille Mer at €3,590 including taxes.

Reviewers describe the Mille Mer as overbuilt: aBlogtoWatch’s hands-on called it practically bombproof, suggested the 1,000 m rating is likely an understatement, and praised the construction and finishing of the bracelet links. Owners highlight the alternating polished and brushed hexagonal case and the legibility of the domed dial, while noting that the polished bracelet sections pick up micro-scratches and that the 17.5 mm height makes it a substantial watch. The Mille Mer Blue Dial is still listed on Bohen’s official store, where it is marked as “last pieces”.
