Mukarram Shahiwala

Mukarram Shahiwala is an Indian entrepreneur and a co-founder of the Argos Watch Company, an independent horological brand established in 2022. Based in Surat, Gujarat, Shahiwala launched the venture alongside Murtuza Shahiwala and other partners with the objective of creating a homegrown alternative to high-priced imported timepieces. His professional efforts have focused on making luxury-style mechanical craftsmanship more accessible to the Indian consumer market.

Under Shahiwala’s leadership, Argos has distinguished itself by specializing in automatic and hand-wound mechanical watches. He has been instrumental in implementing a direct-to-consumer (D2C) business model, utilizing the brand’s dedicated website to maintain quality control and exclusivity while reaching a growing audience of watch enthusiasts. This strategy helped the company generate a revenue of approximately 25.64 crore INR in the 2024-25 fiscal year.

A significant milestone in Shahiwala’s career with the brand was the 2025 launch of the “Olympus,” recognized as India’s first mechanical watch equipped with a power reserve indicator. This release underscored his commitment to blending traditional aesthetics with technical innovation. Furthermore, in mid-2025, Shahiwala oversaw a successful angel funding round that raised 6.5 crore INR, valuing the company at 45 crore INR. These funds were designated for product development and the expansion of the brand’s digital presence.

Shahiwala is recognized within the Indian startup ecosystem for his role in the revival of domestic mechanical watchmaking. By emphasizing Indian-sourced components and precision-driven manufacturing, he continues to position Argos as a significant participant in the evolving luxury landscape of India. His work reflects a dedication to scaling operations while fostering a community-driven approach to brand engagement.
