About this watch

The Tudor Black Bay Chrono M79360N-0002 is the white-dial panda version of the brand’s steel sports chronograph. The steel case measures 41 mm in diameter and 14.4 mm thick, with 22 mm between the lugs, a screw-down crown and pushers, and water resistance of 200 m. A slightly domed sapphire crystal covers the opaline white dial, which has recessed black sub-dials, round applied indexes and Tudor’s snowflake hands. The fixed bezel carries a black aluminium tachymeter insert. Inside is the automatic calibre MT5813, a COSC-certified column-wheel chronograph with vertical clutch, free-sprung adjustable balance and silicon hairspring, running at 4 Hz with a power reserve of about 70 hours. It shows hours, minutes, seconds, date and chronograph.

The MT5813 is based on Breitling’s Calibre 01 and is customised by Tudor. Tudor introduced the current Black Bay Chrono in April 2021 at Watches and Wonders, replacing the original 2017 model with its steel bezel and solid dials. The 2021 update added black bezel inserts, panda and reverse panda dials and a case reduced from 14.9 mm to 14.4 mm. Launch prices were USD 4,900 on leather or fabric straps and USD 5,225 on the steel bracelet. The M79360N-0002 is the panda dial on the steel bracelet, and its current US list price is USD 6,650.

WatchesBySJX found the panda dials more striking than the earlier solid colours and saw a resemblance to vintage Paul Newman Daytona dials. It called the watch probably the best-value sports chronograph under USD 5,000 at launch, given the movement. Its main criticism was the date window, which it felt cluttered the dial and weakened the vintage look. The panda Black Bay Chrono on steel bracelet remains in production as of October 2026, with retail listings at the current USD 6,650 price.
