About this watch

The Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT, reference M7939G1A0NRU, is a 39 mm steel travel watch with a 24-hour bezel. The case is 12.8 mm thick, 47.8 mm from lug to lug and takes a 20 mm strap. Its top surfaces are brushed while the case band and bevels are polished. A domed, box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating sits over the dial, and the screw-down solid steel caseback gives 200 m of water resistance. The matte, lightly grained black dial uses gilt printing, cream-toned Super-LumiNova, a snowflake GMT hand and a cream date disc. Inside is the manufacture calibre MT5450-U, an automatic movement running at 28,800 vph with a power reserve of about 65 hours. It is certified by both COSC and METAS as a Master Chronometer. Functions are hours, minutes, seconds, date and a second time zone, with a local hour hand that jumps independently.

Tudor introduced the watch at Watches & Wonders 2024 as a slimmer, smaller companion to the 41 mm Black Bay GMT. The case is 1.8 mm thinner than that model. The bidirectional bezel has a black and burgundy anodised aluminium insert, a combination collectors call ‘Coke’, paired here with gilt numerals. Buyers can choose a riveted three-link steel bracelet or a black rubber strap. Both use Tudor’s T-Fit clasp, which allows about 8 mm of tool-free adjustment. Launch prices were USD 4,400 on rubber and USD 4,600 on the bracelet, or EUR 4,420 and EUR 4,630 respectively. SJX compared it to the discontinued Rolex GMT-Master ref. 16710, which the Tudor follows in size and colour scheme.

Press reception was largely positive. WatchesbySJX described it as one of the best options under USD 5,000 and praised the thinner case, the bracelet and the clasp, while finding the dial typography generic and the faux rivets unnecessary. Monochrome praised the proportions and the double certification, but noted the gilt Coke palette divides opinion, that the gold GMT hand offers little contrast and that the price has risen compared with earlier Tudor GMTs. Fratello found the design predictable while respecting its build quality. Reader comments on these reviews echoed the split over the gilt accents. As of October 2026 the Black Bay 58 GMT remains part of Tudor’s regular collection and is in production.
