About this watch

The Q Timex GMT TW2V38000 adds a second time zone to Timex’s Q Timex line, which goes back to the brand’s first quartz watches of the 1970s and returned with the Q Timex 1979 Reissue. The stainless steel case measures 38 mm in diameter and 12.5 mm in height. The black dial, with full markers and a date window, sits under a domed acrylic crystal. Timex describes the movement as a Swiss quartz GMT movement and lists it as a Ronda calibre, powered by an SR920SW battery. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters, which Timex says is suitable for light swimming but not for snorkelling or diving.

A fourth, GMT hand tracks a second time zone on a 24-hour scale, read against the rotating bezel in the red-and-blue colour split of the original Q Timex. The watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet, 18 mm wide at the lugs, with a deployant clasp, and Timex gives a fit for wrists of about 150 to 205 mm. On Timex’s Canadian and UK online stores, the TW2V38000 is listed at CAD 329 and GBP 210.

Reviewers have mostly praised its vintage proportions and its price. Gear Patrol called it the best Timex its reviewer had handled, liking the proportions on smaller wrists and the spot-on red and blue of the bezel, but pointed out that the bezel is friction-fit, with no ratcheting click. It launched at USD 219 on the bracelet, and demand was strong enough that Dappered ran a back-in-stock alert for it in 2022. The TW2V38000 is still sold on Timex’s Canadian and UK online stores. Its former product page on Timex’s US site no longer exists, so it no longer appears to be sold directly in the United States.
