The Patek Philippe Nautilus reference 5711/1A, introduced in 2006 for the Nautilus’s 30th anniversary, is a 40 mm stainless steel sports watch with an integrated steel bracelet, a blue dial with horizontal embossing, a date window and a water resistance of 120 metres. It succeeded the 3700 Jumbo and is powered by an automatic calibre; sources disagree between the 315 SC and 324 S C for the earliest examples.
It kept Gérald Genta’s porthole design in a slightly larger, modern case, with the same hinged-ear bezel construction. Over its life it was made with several dial colours, and early examples with the Geneva Seal are prized by collectors.
The 5711/1A became the most sought-after modern steel sports watch, with waiting lists and secondary-market prices well above retail. Patek announced in 2021 that the steel Nautilus 5711/1A would be discontinued, so the watch is no longer produced, while other Nautilus references remain in the collection.
