About this watch

The Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 6196P-001 is a time-only dress watch with a manual-wind movement and small seconds. The case is platinum, 38 mm in diameter and 9.33 mm thick. It is fully polished on top with satin-finished flanks, and a single brilliant-cut diamond is set at 6 o’clock. It has a sapphire crystal, a sapphire caseback and 30 m water resistance. The dial is rose-gilt opaline, which collectors call salmon. It has applied, faceted obus-style hour markers and faceted dauphine hands, all in charcoal-grey white gold. The movement is the calibre 30-255 PS: 31 mm wide, 2.55 mm thick, 164 parts, 27 jewels, a Spiromax balance spring and a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). It has twin barrels, at least 65 hours of power reserve and a stop-seconds function. It carries the Patek Philippe Seal, which WatchesBySJX reports as -1 to +2 seconds per day.

Patek presented the 6196P at Watches and Wonders 2025. It uses the same calibre as the Calatrava ref. 6119G. The brand presents the dial as a vintage touch for a classic Calatrava. The watch comes on a shiny chocolate-brown alligator strap with a platinum prong buckle. SJX reported a launch price of USD 47,130 before taxes. As of October 2026, Patek’s own site lists it at EUR 48,700.

WatchesBySJX called the 6196P an almost perfect encapsulation of the Calatrava style. It praised the proportions, the salmon dial and the movement’s timekeeping. It was less positive about the price, which is 39% above the 6119G with the same movement. It also noted the largely machine-applied finishing and said blackened hands can oxidise. On WatchProSite, members who saw it in person praised the dial contrast and said it looked better than in photos. Several said it wears like a 39 to 40 mm watch because of its long lug-to-lug, and some called it very expensive. As of October 2026, it is in production as part of Patek Philippe’s regular Calatrava collection.
