The MING 37.09 Bluefin is a 600 m dive watch that replaces the usual rotating bezel with a rotating sapphire dial. The case is 316L stainless steel with polished and brushed surfaces. It measures 38 mm in diameter, 12.8 mm thick and 44.5 mm lug to lug, with a 20 mm lug width. It has a domed sapphire crystal and a sapphire display caseback, both with double-sided anti-reflective coating. The dial is sapphire with a deep blue metallised finish. It rotates unidirectionally on bearings and is turned by a second crown at 4 o’clock. The hour indices are a ring of luminous Hyceram ceramic on the underside of the crystal, and the minute track and hands use Super-LumiNova X1. The movement is the Sellita for MING SW300.M1, an automatic calibre based on the Sellita SW300-1 with bidirectional winding, hacking seconds, anthracite skeletonised bridges and about 50 hours of power reserve.
The Bluefin was MING’s first watch with an internal rotating sapphire timing dial, and the brand describes its design as third-generation. According to Gear Patrol, the 4 o’clock crown is luminous and sealed, and it turns the dial in 60 clicks, so the timer can be set underwater. The watch comes on a moulded, tapered FKM rubber strap with curved bars, quick release and a keeperless flying blade tuck buckle with micro-adjustment. The strap also fits MING’s other 20 mm lug watches. MING announced the watch on 23 May 2024 and sold it only through ming.watch from 24 May 2024. The price was CHF 4,950 excluding taxes, production was 500 pieces for 2024, and deliveries were scheduled from October 2024.
The Bluefin won the Sports Watch Prize at the 2024 GPHG, MING’s second GPHG win after its first in 2019. Gear Patrol noted it was one of the more affordable watches honoured that year. Gear Patrol called the rotating dial deceptively simple and highly original, and named the Bluefin one of MING’s best designs. The most common criticism was availability, since the 500 pieces sold out quickly. As of October 2026, MING’s product page says the Bluefin is sold out with deliveries complete and will not be produced again.
