About this watch

The M.A.D.2 is the second watch from M.A.D.Editions, the affordable sister label of MB&F. It was designed by Eric Giroud, and his name appears on the caseback. The case is 316L stainless steel, 42 mm in diameter and 12.3 mm thick, with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, an exhibition caseback and 30 m water resistance. The green version has a green central dial with two discs, hours on the left and minutes on the right, each read against a guitar-pick-shaped pointer. A ring of Super-LumiNova dots around the edge sits on the oversized rotor, which is visible from the dial side. The movement is the Swiss La Joux-Perret G101 automatic, with 24 jewels, 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and 64 hours of power reserve. MB&F added an in-house module with a jumping hour, which can be set forwards and backwards, and trailing minutes.

The M.A.D.2 follows the M.A.D.1. It uses a Swiss movement and a more conventional regulator-style layout. The rotor was reworked to be much wider than the base calibre so that it can be seen around the dial. The watch was presented in March 2025 in two colours on leather straps with folding buckles. The orange version was reserved for MB&F owners in The Tribe and for friends and partners of the brand. The green version was the only one open to the public, through an online raffle that opened on 1 April 2025 for one week. The price was CHF 2,900 excluding taxes, about USD 3,277 according to Gear Patrol.

WatchesBySJX called the M.A.D.2 a logical evolution of the affordable M.A.D. concept and arguably a better watch than the M.A.D.1. It described the bidirectional jumping hour as a real upgrade to the base movement and said Swiss manufacture adds some cachet. It also found the design more conventional and visually less interesting than the M.A.D.1. Gear Patrol said the watch was even better than its predecessor and a major achievement in making high-end watchmaking affordable. It praised the more refined and legible dial. The main complaint was access, since buyers could only get the green model by winning the raffle. As of October 2026, the green edition is sold out and is no longer offered after the 2025 raffle.
