About this watch

The Frederique Constant Classics Carree Automatic FC-303S4C26 is a rectangular Swiss dress watch inspired by 1920s Art Deco designs. Its polished stainless steel case measures 42.3 mm, the figure the brand gives for its dimensions, and 9.71 mm in thickness, with a 22 mm lug width. The silver dial combines an embossed centre with a sunray finish, applied indexes and sword-shaped hands, and it is protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. It is powered by the automatic FC-303 caliber, which is based on the Sellita SW200. The caliber runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour with 26 jewels and provides a 38-hour power reserve. Water resistance is rated at 3 ATM, or 30 meters, so the watch is splash resistant only.

The watch displays hours, minutes and central seconds, with a date window at 6 o’clock. It comes on a black cow leather strap with crocodile-pattern embossing, which narrows from 22 mm at the lugs to an 18 mm pin buckle. The Carree Automatic is also offered with a blue dial (FC-303N4C26), in other dial and strap combinations, and in rose-gold-plated versions. The US list price is USD 1,495, and the Swiss price is CHF 1,195. The brand’s US store lists this reference in its ladies’ section and describes the dial as white, while the Swiss site files it under men’s watches with a silver dial.

Coverage of the Carree line has focused on its retro look and its value against other rectangular Swiss watches. Time and Watches welcomed the original 2017 model as an affordable take on the classic tank shape, then listed at USD 1,295. Senatus noted that the 2022 redesign dropped the Roman numerals in favour of faceted applied indexes, dauphine-style hands and a sunray outer dial, giving it a cleaner look. Reviewers of the related Carree Heart Beat, including The Hour Markers, described the 38-hour power reserve of the Sellita-based movement as modest for the price, and the 30 m water rating limits it to dress wear. The FC-303S4C26 is still in the current Frederique Constant catalogue, although it is shown as sold out on the brand’s US and Swiss online stores.
