Born on December 11, 1977, in Bern, Switzerland, Streit began his professional journey in the Swiss Nationalliga A before moving to North America. After being drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 2004, he established himself as the first Swiss field player to achieve long-term success in the NHL, eventually playing 786 regular-season games and recording 434 points across tenures with the Canadiens, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Streit’s leadership was recognized throughout his career, notably serving as the captain of the Swiss national team at multiple Olympic Games and World Championships. Following his retirement from professional sports, Streit transitioned into entrepreneurship and became a foundational figure in the horological industry as a co-founder of Norqain. Launched in 2018 alongside Ben Kuffer and Ted Schneider, Norqain is an independent, family-owned Swiss watch brand based in Nidau. Streit serves as an active member of the company’s Board of Directors, leveraging his sporting legacy to foster significant collaborations, such as the multiyear partnership naming Norqain the Official Luxury Sports Watch of the NHL. His involvement reflects a commitment to Swiss craftsmanship and the integration of professional athletic values into the brand’s identity.
