The story of Jérémy Le Carour

Jérémy Le Carour is a French entrepreneur and a foundational figure in the contemporary independent watchmaking scene, best known as a co-founder of the watch brand Akrone. Based in Nantes, France, Le Carour established the company in 2015 alongside two partners, Erwan Kerneur and Jean-François Kerboul. His professional journey is defined by a commitment to revitalizing French horology through a business model that emphasizes transparency, community engagement, and technical functionality.

Under Le Carour’s co-leadership, Akrone emerged as a pioneer in the French market by utilizing crowdfunding to launch its debut model, the K-01. This approach allowed the brand to establish a direct relationship with its customers from the outset, a philosophy that remains central to Le Carour’s management style. He has been instrumental in steering the brand toward a “tool-watch” identity, focusing on the production of mechanical timepieces that utilize high-performance materials such as titanium, ceramic, and forged carbon.

Le Carour has played a significant role in developing Akrone’s reputation for technical credibility. This is evidenced by the brand’s collaborations with elite professional units, including the French Marine Commandos, the GIGN, and the Army Light Aviation (ALAT). These projects involve creating specialized service instruments designed for extreme conditions, which are later adapted for civilian collections. His leadership also oversaw the brand’s involvement as the official timekeeper for the prestigious “La Solitaire du Figaro” nautical race between 2021 and 2023.

A key aspect of Le Carour’s vision for the brand is the “industrial coherence” of bringing watchmaking back to France. He has supported the transition toward local assembly and the use of French-made components, such as movements from France Ébauches. By maintaining a small, specialized team in Nantes, Le Carour ensures that the brand remains independent and focused on delivering limited-edition timepieces that combine traditional craftsmanship with modern industrial innovation. As Akrone approaches its tenth anniversary, Jérémy Le Carour continues to lead the manufacture with a focus on sustainable growth and the continued promotion of French horological expertise.
