The story of Ilan Srulovicz
Ilan Srulovicz is a Canadian-American entrepreneur, designer, and actor, best known as the founder and CEO of the Egard Watch Company. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in Montreal, Srulovicz’s professional background is rooted in 3D animation and design. He studied at Centre NAD and Interdec College in Montreal before attending the Vancouver Film School for character animation and the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts.
Srulovicz entered the horological industry in 2010 when he set out to design a unique timepiece as a tribute to his father, Peter Srulovicz. This initial design, known as “The Shade,” featured an intricate layered dial and high technical specifications. After receiving significant interest from online watch forums and the acting community, Srulovicz officially launched Egard Watch Company in 2012. The brand is managed as a family enterprise, with offices in Toronto and Los Angeles, where Ilan and his father continue to collaborate on design and manufacturing.
Under Srulovicz’s leadership, Egard has become known for its “tribute” collections and high-profile collaborations. He has worked with figures such as legendary actor William Shatner to create the “Passages” collection and MMA world champion Georges St-Pierre for the “Rush” collection. His design approach utilizes his 3D modeling background to create watches characterized by complex, multi-dimensional cases and dials.
In addition to his career in watchmaking, Srulovicz is an established actor and producer. He has appeared in several major television series and films, including The Walking Dead, Marvel’s Loki, The Big Short, and Deepwater Horizon. He is also recognized for his work as a documentarian and his public commentary on various social and cultural issues, often using his brand platform to advocate for specific values. His contributions to the community and his support for law enforcement were recognized when he was awarded the Fox Patriot Award for courage.
