About this watch

The Yema Wristmaster is a collection that revives a name from the brand’s 1960s catalogue. It returned through a Kickstarter campaign that ran from 15 to 30 November 2021, with two models designed by Yema’s managing director and head of design, Christopher Bôle. The Wristmaster Adventurer has a 37 mm barrel-shaped steel case with vertical brushing, a thick double-domed hesalite crystal that makes it 12 mm thick, and a beige or blue dial. It uses the in-house YEMA2000 automatic with quick-set date, hacking seconds, about 42 hours of power reserve and ±10 seconds a day, and it was offered at €399 during the campaign. The Wristmaster Traveller is a 39 mm integrated-bracelet watch. Its octagonal case comes from a 1960s Yema model and its bezel from a 1980s one. Later versions include the Traveller Micro-Rotor, a 39 x 43.5 mm cushion-cased, COSC-certified, Swiss-made model whose blue edition was limited to 1,948 pieces. The Wristmaster Slim uses the in-house CMM.20 micro-rotor. A hand-brushed limited edition of 200 was priced at US$2,449, and the small-seconds CMM.29 version is regulated to −3/+7 seconds a day.

Reviewers have generally welcomed the Wristmaster as good value. Deployant called the Adventurer “a charming design that is difficult to dislike”, praised its faithful reproduction of the original hands and dial and its comfortable 37 mm size, and described the value as “rather excellent”. It also warned that the market for vintage remakes is crowded, so Yema would need bolder products to stand out. Owners of the Traveller Micro-Rotor praise its micro-rotor movement and comfort, though some mention long waits for delivery. The Slim micro-rotor models have been reviewed by aBlogtoWatch and Monochrome as an unusually affordable route to an in-house micro-rotor.

The Wristmaster collection is still in production. The Kickstarter Adventurer was a launch offering, and the Traveller design grew into the Yema Urban Traveller in 2023. Wristmaster Traveller and Wristmaster Slim references are still sold by Yema and retailers; Lepage, for example, lists the 39 mm Traveller at €890. Many Wristmaster versions are limited editions, so availability depends on the reference.
