The Chronograph Monopoussoir Sylvain Pinaud x Massena LAB is a hand-wound monopusher chronograph made largely by hand in Pinaud’s workshop in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland. The 42 mm titanium case is 11 mm thick, with a polished bezel, grained lugs, 20 mm between the lugs and 30 m of water resistance. Sapphire is used for the crystal, the case back and a window set into the caseband between bezel and middle case, so the movement can be seen from the side. The open dial was made by Comblémine, the dial company owned by Kari Voutilainen. An off-centre frosted chapter ring carries the hours and minutes, the running seconds and a 45-minute counter sit in the lower half, with a blued central chronograph hand. The movement has an integrated column-wheel chronograph with horizontal clutch, runs at 18,000 vph and has a 45-hour power reserve. A single pusher in the crown starts, stops and resets the chronograph.
The watch revives the monopusher chronograph with which Pinaud won the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France competition. The collaboration began when William Massena of Massena LAB asked for a more classical case for the movement. It was announced on 30 August 2023 as an edition of 10 pieces, with about three made per year. It comes on an alligator strap made by Jean Rousseau Paris. Worn & Wound and the body of Monochrome’s launch article gave the price as CHF 130,000, while Monochrome’s specification box and later coverage list it as price on request.
The watch won the Chronograph Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2024. Worn & Wound’s hands-on called it immensely impressive and praised the finishing of the chronograph works and the restraint of the design. It noted that the large bridge gives up some visual drama for practicality and framed the price as the cost of a showcase of craft. Monochrome said the watch felt like a winner. Watchilove’s 2025 review focused on the hand-frosted bridges and polished screws. As of October 2026 it remains a limited edition of 10 pieces made at a rate of about three per year.
