About this watch

The Richard Mille RM 027, introduced in 2010, is a manual-wind tourbillon made for the tennis player Rafael Nadal. It was developed to be worn during play, and Richard Mille states a weight of about 20 grams including the strap and a shock resistance reported at 5,000 g. The case is a tonneau shape in a lightweight alloy, and the baseplate is made of an aluminium-lithium alloy suspended by thin cables, so the movement is isolated from shocks. I did not verify figures such as the exact case size.

Nadal wore the watch during matches, and it was one of the first luxury watches intended to be worn on court. The RM 027 started a series of Rafael Nadal watches, which later included the RM 27-01, 27-02, 27-03 and 27-05.

The community values the RM 027 as a technical statement and a landmark for sports-oriented haute horlogerie, though its price and exclusivity put it out of reach for most. The original RM 027 was a limited production, while the Nadal line continues as later 27-series models.
