Richard Mille RM 19-02 Skeleton Dial

Richard Mille Skeleton Dial, Fleur, Tourbillon, White Gold, Diamond (RM 19-02)

The Richard Mille RM 19-02 Tourbillon Fleur is a highly complex 45.4mm luxury timepiece featuring a three-part tonneau-shaped case crafted from 18k white gold and set with brilliant-cut diamonds. This limited edition of 30 pieces is distinguished by its skeletonized dial which showcases a hand-painted magnolia flower with five 18k gold petals. The watch is powered by a manual-winding movement with a baseplate and bridges made of Grade 5 titanium, offering a power reserve of approximately 36 hours and water resistance up to 50 meters.

The primary complication of the RM 19-02 is a mechanical automaton integrated with a flying tourbillon at the 7 o’clock position. Every five minutes, or on demand via a pusher at 9 o’clock, the magnolia petals slowly open to reveal the tourbillon, which simultaneously rises 1mm to mimic the natural motion of a flower’s stamen. The center of the tourbillon is set with precious stones, and the opening/closing cycle is adjustable. Additional technical features include a free-sprung balance for improved shock resistance and a barrel pawl with progressive recoil for more efficient winding.

General reviews of the RM 19-02 highlight it as a masterpiece of horological artistry that blurs the line between mechanical engineering and nature-inspired poetry. While its significant dimensions and diamond-set exterior are noted for their bold presence, the watch is praised for its curved case design that ensures wearability on smaller wrists. Critics often focus on its extreme price point and opulent aesthetic, yet collectors and industry experts widely regard the “mechanical bloom” as one of the most innovative and technically impressive feminine complications in modern watchmaking.
