About this watch

The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Chronographe Mystérieux is a chronograph that looks like a time-only watch until its function is used. The 40 mm case is stainless steel with a knurled 950 platinum bezel, measures 13 mm thick and is water resistant to 100 m, with sapphire crystals front and back and a screw-down crown. The Mineral Blue dial has hand-guilloché Grain d’Orge texture, rhodium-plated 18-carat gold applied indexes and delta-shaped hands. It is powered by the automatic calibre PF053, an integrated column-wheel chronograph with 358 components and 41 jewels, measuring 32.4 mm by 6.9 mm. It beats at 4 Hz, has a 60-hour power reserve and a 22-carat rose gold central rotor.

There are no sub-dials. At rest, rhodium-plated hands sit over the rose gold time hands. One press of the monopusher at 7:30 sends three rhodium hands to zero and starts timing, revealing the gold hours and minutes beneath. A second press stops the chronograph, which can measure up to 12 hours, and a third returns the hands to the time position. The design uses two rattrapante mechanisms and three clutches. It follows the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante of 2022 and the Minute Rattrapante in the brand’s series of hidden complications. Launched at Watches and Wonders 2026, the steel model is priced at CHF 36,900, or USD 44,600 according to Time+Tide, on an integrated steel bracelet with folding clasp, with deliveries from June 2026. A platinum version is limited to 30 pieces.

Press reaction has praised the concept and execution. Time+Tide described the hand-switching as mathematically complex and found 13 mm reasonable for such a chronograph, but noted that the running seconds hand restarts from where the chronograph stopped. WatchesBySJX called the dial surprisingly legible and the movement slim, but criticised the regulator and balance as below the brand’s usual standard, the lack of micro-adjustment on the clasp and a bracelet with less substance than rivals. Monochrome and Watchonista focused on its balance of complexity and minimalism. As of October 2026 the steel Tonda PF Chronographe Mystérieux is in regular production.
