About this watch

The Nomos Tangente 38 Date 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte is a series of 31 limited colour editions of the Tangente 38 Date, each limited to 175 pieces. All share the same polished stainless steel case, 37.5 mm in diameter, 6.98 mm thick and 47.7 mm lug to lug, with angled, drilled lugs, a flat sapphire crystal, a sapphire caseback and 30 m water resistance. The dials keep the classic Tangente layout of Arabic numerals and batons, a recessed small seconds sub-dial with snailing and a bevelled date window at six o’clock, with colour applied to the main dial, minute track, sub-dial and date disc. Hands are polished steel. The movement is Nomos’ in-house hand-wound calibre DUW 4101 with 23 jewels, the Nomos swing system, 21,600 vph (3 Hz) and a 42-hour power reserve. It places the date mechanism around the outside of the movement to keep the watch slim, and is finished with Glashütte ribbing, perlage and blued screws.

Nomos presented the series at Watches and Wonders 2024, its first appearance at the fair. The 175-piece run of each colour links the editions to more than 175 years of watchmaking in Glashütte, and the caseback is engraved ‘Limited Edition Tangente – 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte’ with the colour name and individual number. The 31 versions range from the multicoloured Sportbunt, with a 1970s feel, to the blue-and-sand Delfin and the red-pink Chili. Each is supplied on a 19 mm textile strap, in colours chosen per edition, with a Nomos folding clasp. The price was EUR 1,925, lower than the EUR 2,320 of the regular Tangente 38 Date.

Monochrome welcomed the series as a celebration of colour and individuality, describing the palettes as ranging from bold to subtle, each unique in its own right, and noted with some surprise that Nomos priced the limited editions below the standard model. It also noted that the sapphire caseback, usually an option at Nomos, is standard here. No substantial criticism was found in the coverage reviewed. As of October 2026 the editions are no longer listed on Nomos’ website; each colour was a limited edition of 175 pieces and new examples are mainly found at retailers or on the secondary market.
