About this watch

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon 1, presented in 2004, is a hand-wound watch whose tourbillon cage sits inside a second cage, so the escapement turns on two axes at once. The mechanism is a spherical, gyroscope-like arrangement, and the watch was made in platinum or gold in limited numbers. I could not confirm case dimensions, power reserve or the exact edition size from a single source, so they are not given here.

It was developed in the manufacture in Le Sentier as a technical showpiece, and its multi-axis tourbillon is the idea that Jaeger-LeCoultre has built on in later Gyrotourbillon models.

Collectors see the Gyrotourbillon 1 as one of the landmark high-complication watches of the 2000s. The first version is no longer sold, and later Gyrotourbillon models have followed.
