The Helm Miyako 05AR2 is a 40 mm dive watch named after the Japanese island of Miyako. Its polished 316L stainless steel case measures 44.5 mm across including the crown and 13.75 mm high including the domed crystal, with a 47 mm lug-to-lug length and a 22 mm lug width. The navy blue dial carries Helm’s own seigaiha wave pattern, with indexes and blue hands filled with Light Old Radium lume, under a double-domed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating. It is powered by the Miyota 9015, an automatic movement with 24 jewels, hacking and hand-winding, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 42-hour power reserve. Water resistance is 200 meters, tested to ISO 6425:2018.
The 05AR2 shows hours, minutes and seconds with a date window at 4:30. The 120-click unidirectional bezel has a domed sapphire insert and can be removed, and both the crown and caseback screw down. It is delivered on Helm’s SS4 brushed and polished steel bracelet, tapering from 22 mm to 20 mm at the FC3 clasp, together with an NS2 nylon strap. The Miyako is also offered with a slate gray dial (05AR1 with date, 05AR3 without) and as a no-date blue version (05AR4). Helm lists it at USD 375.
Helm is known for a very loyal following and long waiting lists, and the Miyako is no exception: collectors value its ISO 6425 certification, sapphire bezel and crystal and Miyota 9015 at a price well below most certified divers. Reviewers of Helm’s divers regularly praise the build quality and the brand’s communication with buyers. The Miyako is currently in production and sold through a waiting list on Helm’s official website, with occasional lottery sales when the list is long.
