The Direnzo DRZ 02R Aerolite is the reduced-size version (the “R” stands for reduced) of the Geneva brand’s signature DRZ 02. Its 316L stainless steel case measures 39 mm without the crown, 44 mm lug to lug and 10.8 mm in height, and it is treated with a scratch-resistant coating rated at 800 HV. The blue dial with date sits under a flat sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, and a screw-down caseback with a sapphire window shows the movement. Inside is the Swiss Sellita SW200-2 automatic in Elaboré grade with Incabloc shock protection; Direnzo specifies the updated version 2 of the SW200 with an extended 65-hour power reserve. Water resistance is rated at 10 atm (100 meters).

The watch shows hours, minutes, central seconds and the date, set through a push-pull crown. Its defining feature is the case’s elliptical elevation, which Direnzo says pays homage to the lines of vintage Bugatti automobiles: polished fillets trace the edges, and a countercurve in the cross-section creates shifting shadows across the case. It comes on a steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp and half links, and weighs about 150 g with all links. The Blue Date is one of several dials (grey, orange, mint, gold, blue and green, each with or without date) and is listed at CHF 900 on Direnzo’s official store.

Reviewers have praised the DRZ 02R’s construction: Worn & Wound’s hands-on described the case and bracelet as well thought out and well made, and noted that the hardened coating raises the steel’s surface hardness to 800 HV, with review samples showing no blemishes after being shipped and passed around. The Bugatti-inspired case is the main attraction, while the 39 mm diameter and 44 mm lug-to-lug keep it wearable on most wrists. The DRZ 02R Blue Date is currently in production and listed on Direnzo’s official store, with deliveries scheduled in batches.
