About this watch

The Casio G-Shock Frogman DW-6300, released in 1993, is the first Frogman, a diving version of the G-Shock. It is a quartz digital watch in a shock-resistant resin case with a rotating-style diver’s design, an asymmetric shape with a protected button layout and a water resistance of 200 metres. It shows time and date, with a diving-oriented design, and the exact set of dive functions on the earliest models differs from the later Frogmans, which added depth and tide readings.

The Frogman name refers to combat divers. The watch took the unbreakable concept of the 1983 original into the water, and its angular design, with a big fin-like protector around the module, has been a hallmark ever since. A frog sits in the Casio logo on the case back.

Collectors prize the DW-6300 as the start of the Frogman line, and good first-generation examples sell for well above the price of later G-Shocks. The original is no longer produced, but Casio still sells Frogman watches in its current G-Shock range.
