The Armin Strom Dual Time GMT Resonance First Edition is a hand-wound two-time-zone watch with two balances coupled by resonance. The 18-carat white gold case measures 39 mm in diameter, 9.05 mm thick and 44.5 mm lug to lug, with 18 mm between the lugs and water resistance of 50 m. Sapphire crystals with anti-reflective treatment cover the front and back. Two sky-blue grenage sub-dials with black azurage chapter rings, applied polished baton indexes and rhodium-plated day and night discs sit over the visible movement. The in-house calibre ARF22, the brand’s 18th, measures 34.15 mm by 4.92 mm and has 231 components and 40 jewels. It runs at 25,200 vph (3.5 Hz) with a 42-hour power reserve.
Each time zone has its own barrel, gear train and balance, showing hours, minutes and day or night. A patented resonance clutch spring links the two balances so that they synchronise. One crown at 4 o’clock winds both barrels, and each dial has its own setting crown. The watch was presented at Geneva Watch Days in August 2024 as a 25-piece limited edition, reference WG23-DT.FE. It comes with two alligator straps, matte grey with sky-blue stitching and light grey with pearl-grey stitching, and an 18-carat gold pin buckle. Prices were CHF 115,000, EUR 133,300 and USD 151,000. Armin Strom has since added further Dual Time GMT Resonance versions, including rose gold and a steel model with an aventurine dial.
Press coverage was very positive. Monochrome described the resonance concept as a major development and said the watch had never looked better. Fratello called it a technical tour de force and one of the cooler new watches its author had seen, praising the finishing and the smaller 39 mm case, while noting that it will not suit everyone and that the price puts it out of reach for most buyers. Several Fratello readers found the dial cluttered by the visible wheels and the crowns asymmetrical, while others praised the engineering. As of October 2026 Armin Strom still lists the First Edition as a 25-piece limited edition, with no sold-out notice on its site.
