Voutilainen

Voutilainen is the watchmaking workshop of Finnish-born watchmaker Kari Voutilainen, founded in 2002 in Môtiers, in Switzerland’s Val-de-Travers. Its first product was a decimal minute repeater with a power-reserve indicator. The company moved to its current workshop on Rue de Comblémine in 2009 and in 2014 acquired the dial maker Dialtech, renamed Comblémine SA, giving it its own dial production a short distance away. The team remains small, and Angélique Singele has been appointed CEO alongside Kari Voutilainen, who also serves as co-CEO of Urban Jürgensen.

Voutilainen makes a limited number of watches each year with in-house movements and dials from its Comblémine subsidiary. The Vingt-8, introduced in 2011, uses the in-house calibre 28 with a double-wheel escapement and underpins many models, including the 28SC with central seconds. The workshop has won about a dozen GPHG prizes, among them the Men’s Complication Prize for its World Timer in 2023, the Men’s Watch Prize for the KV20i Reversed in 2024 and the Artistic Crafts Prize for the 28GML Souyou, a lacquer-art piece, in 2025. Recent work also includes unique pieces such as the 28KOHAN and a limited edition with Louis Vuitton.
