Lip is a historic French watchmaking brand founded in 1867 by Emmanuel Lipmann in Besançon, France. Originally established as a small workshop called Comptoir Lipmann, the company grew under the leadership of the Lipmann family, including Emmanuel’s sons Ernest and Camille, and later his grandson Fred Lip. Coming from a family of watchmakers with roots in Alsace, the founders positioned Lip at the center of the French horological industry, eventually becoming the country’s largest watch manufacturer.
