Electra

Electra is a French watch brand with a history that dates back to the late 1960s. Originally established in 1966 as a collaborative venture under the French manufacturer Lip, it brought together several French and Swiss watchmakers, including Lacorda and Vulcain. The brand achieved significant commercial success, selling approximately 300,000 timepieces by 1969, before the industry-wide quartz crisis led to its disappearance in 1971. In 2024, the brand was revived by a group of French watch enthusiasts, led by an individual known as Don, a collector and creator with two decades of experience in the horological world.

Based in France, the modern iteration of Electra focuses on a concept described as “uchrony”—an alternate timeline that explores how the brand might have evolved had it survived the 1970s. This philosophy results in timepieces that blend vintage 1960s heritage with modern technical standards and refined aesthetics. Collectors are drawn to the brand for its commitment to high-specification components, such as Swiss-made movements and sapphire crystals, combined with accessible pricing and a transparent assembly process conducted at the Pequignet manufacture in France.

The brand’s primary contemporary offering is the Dare-Devil Diver, a collection of skin diver-style watches inspired by historical models. These pieces feature 38mm stainless steel cases, double-domed sapphire crystals, and a water resistance rating of 666 feet (approximately 203 meters), a nod to the “Devil Diver” designation used in vintage horology. The collection utilizes the Swiss-made Soprod P024 automatic movement and is available in various dial configurations, including Deep Blue, Emerald Green, and Formal Black. Additionally, the brand has explored models featuring Seiko mecha-quartz movements, such as the Golden Sand, further expanding its versatile catalog of functional tool watches.
