Angelus is a Swiss watch brand founded in 1891 in Le Locle by the brothers Albert and Gustav Stolz. During the 20th century it built a reputation for complicated watches, including its first wrist chronographs in 1925, the Chronodato calendar chronograph of 1942 and the Tinkler quarter repeater of 1958. Production stopped in the late 1970s after the quartz crisis, and the name lay dormant until movement maker La Joux-Perret acquired it in 2011. The revived brand presented its first new model, the U10 Tourbillon Lumière, in 2015. Angelus is now based in La Chaux-de-Fonds and develops its movements with sister company La Joux-Perret, part of the Citizen group.
The current catalogue has two lines. L.A.B. (Legacy and Beyond) covers contemporary flying tourbillons and skeletonised tourbillon chronographs in titanium and carbon composite, along with the Chronodate, a 2022 revival of the 1942 calendar chronograph. La Fabrique, launched in 2023, revisits historic chronographs and repeaters in small limited series, starting with the Chronographe Médical made with Massena LAB and followed by the 39 mm Instrument de Vitesse monopusher in 2024. The 37 mm Chronographe Télémètre, a monopusher with a telemeter scale, won the Chronograph Prize at the 2025 GPHG in yellow gold, and a Tinkler 1958 quarter-repeater re-edition followed in 2026.
