The Urban Jürgensen UJ-2 is a hand-wound, time-only dress watch built around a double-wheel natural escapement. The round case measures 39 mm in diameter and 10.9 mm thick and is offered in 950 platinum or 5N rose gold, with sapphire crystals front and back and 30 m water resistance. The dial is made of solid silver with a galvanic finish in silver or blue, decorated with hand-guilloché grain d’orge and clous de Paris patterns and fitted with applied chapter rings. It shows off-centre hours and minutes, small seconds at 5 o’clock and a fractional power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock. The UJ-2 calibre measures 32 mm across and 5.5 mm thick, runs at 18,000 vph (2.5 Hz) on 32 jewels and stores about 52 hours of power in a single barrel.
The watch was presented in June 2025 as part of the relaunch of Urban Jürgensen, with Kari Voutilainen’s workshop style evident in the movement design and finishing. Its escapement uses two escape wheels that impulse the balance directly, a layout related to Breguet’s natural escapement, and the brand claims it is about 30% more efficient than a Swiss lever. Four references are listed: UJ-2-PT-S-001 (platinum, silver dial), UJ-2-PT-B-001 (platinum, blue dial), UJ-2-RG-S-001 (rose gold, silver dial) and UJ-2-RG-B-001 (rose gold, blue dial). Each comes on a leather strap with a pin buckle in the case metal. The price starts at CHF 105,000 excluding taxes, and the GPHG listing gives CHF 113,500 including VAT.
The UJ-2 won the Men’s Watch Prize at the 2025 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. SJX called it a very appealing proposition, praising the classical design, the originality of the movement and its finishing, and judged the price fair next to a Voutilainen Vingt-8. SJX also found the hands slightly small for the dial, the lugs a little short and the 30% efficiency claim hard to verify, and noted that over CHF 100,000 is a lot for a time-only watch. Monochrome described it as an exercise in refinement and the purest expression of the brand’s revival, while one Monochrome reader called the dial busy. WatchProSite reported a moderately enthusiastic reception among its members. The UJ-2 is part of the permanent collection, made in small numbers and sold directly by Urban Jürgensen, and it remains in production as of October 2026.
