The TAG Heuer Connected, unveiled in November 2015, is the Swiss brand’s first smartwatch. It has a 46 mm titanium case, a touchscreen display, and it runs Android Wear on an Intel Atom processor. It was developed in partnership with Google and Intel and sold for around 1,500 US dollars.
TAG Heuer offered a trade-in programme: after two years, owners could pay an additional sum to exchange the Connected for a mechanical Carrera. The watch was seen as a test of whether a luxury house could compete with Apple, and it led to the Connected Modular line in 2017.
Reviews at launch were mixed. Writers praised the build and the idea but noted the size, the short battery life and the limits of Android Wear at the time. The 2015 Connected is no longer produced.
