The Seiko SKX007, introduced in 1996, is a stainless steel automatic diver with a case of about 42 mm, a unidirectional rotating bezel, a Hardlex crystal and a water resistance of 200 metres. It runs the in-house 7S26 automatic movement, which cannot be hand wound or hacked, and shows the day and date. It was sold on a rubber strap or a steel bracelet.
The SKX007 succeeded the 7002 diver and became one of the best-known entry-level mechanical divers in the world. Its simple design, solid build and low price made it a favourite for modification and a standard first diver.
The community widely regards the SKX007 as a benchmark value diver, and prices rose after it was discontinued in 2019. It was replaced by the Seiko 5 Sports line, which has continued the design with a newer movement.
