Richard Mille RM 50-02 Skeleton Dial

Richard Mille Skeleton Dial, Tourbillon, Chronograph, Titanium (RM 50-02)

The Richard Mille RM 50-02 ACJ is a high-performance luxury timepiece developed in collaboration with Airbus Corporate Jets. The watch features a tonneau-shaped case measuring 50.10mm x 42.70mm x 16.50mm, constructed from a specialized titanium-aluminum alloy (TiAl) typically used in jet turbine blades for its lightweight and durable properties. This is paired with a white ceramic bezel shaped like an aircraft porthole and secured by aerospace-grade Torq-Set screws. The skeletonized sapphire dial reveals a manual-winding movement with a baseplate and bridges made of Grade 5 titanium, some of which feature a distinct bronze-colored anti-corrosion coating used in aviation.

The technical core of the RM 50-02 is its highly complex movement, which integrates a tourbillon with a split-seconds chronograph. This allows the user to time multiple intervals simultaneously with extreme precision. Additional complications include a power reserve indicator located between 11 and 12 o’clock, which displays up to 70 hours of autonomy, a torque indicator to monitor the mainspring’s tension, and a function indicator at 4 o’clock showing the crown’s current setting in winding, neutral, or hand-setting positions. The watch is water-resistant to 50 meters and is typically fitted on a high-resistance textile or rubber strap.

General reviews of the RM 50-02 often highlight it as a pinnacle of horological engineering that successfully merges the worlds of high-end watchmaking and aerospace technology. Critics and enthusiasts praise the exceptional skeletonization and the use of authentic aviation materials, noting that the design feels like a “cockpit for the wrist.” While its bold, industrial aesthetic and significant dimensions are celebrated for their uniqueness, some reviewers find the frantic, colorful dial challenging to read at a glance. Despite its staggering initial price point and limited production of only 30 units, the watch is regarded as a masterclass in branding and technical execution that captures the spirit of modern luxury.
