About this watch

The Monta Oceanking 165BK60CK is the third generation of the dive watch that launched the US brand in 2016, here with a black lacquer dial and a black ceramic bezel. Its 316L stainless steel case measures 40.5 mm in diameter, 12 mm in thickness and 48 mm lug to lug, with a 20 mm lug width, and has a screw-down crown with guards, polished sides with bevels on the outer lugs and a solid caseback engraved around its perimeter. The lacquered dial has applied indices with larger lume plots and a surrounding minute track, paired with diamond-cut, rhodium-plated sword hands filled with Super-LumiNova BGW9. It sits under a flat, bevelled sapphire crystal with seven layers of anti-reflective coating on the underside. The watch is powered by the MONTA Caliber M-22, a self-winding movement with a bidirectional rotor and 56 hours of power reserve that is manufactured, assembled and tested in Switzerland. Water resistance is rated and tested to 300 meters.

The watch shows hours, minutes, central seconds and the date, with a 60-minute dive bezel. The redesigned ceramic insert uses a patent-pending assembly with 120 clicks, new indices and typeface, and a luminous capsule pip at 12 o’clock filled with Super-LumiNova BGW9. It comes on Monta’s steel bracelet with two half-links for sizing and a quick-adjust clasp with six slots for on-the-fly micro-adjustment. The Oceanking is also offered with a blue dial and aluminum bezel, and with orange and yellow dials. Monta lists the 165BK60CK at USD 2,550 on its official store.

Reviewers see the third-generation Oceanking as a meaningful refinement of Monta’s original model. aBlogtoWatch found the clasp exceptional and praised the comfort of the bracelet, while Monta highlights the reworked clasp finishing, with brushed outer surfaces, a polished chamfer and mirror-polished inner surfaces. Monta describes the new dial, with its larger lume plots, as the most reworked part of the watch. The 165BK60CK is currently in production and available on Monta’s official store, where it is marked as available in limited quantities.
