About this watch

The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Date 42mm, reference AI6008-SS002-430-1, is the blue-dial, steel-bracelet version of the brand’s integrated-bracelet Aikon Automatic. The stainless steel case measures 42 mm in diameter and 11 mm in height. It combines brushed and polished surfaces, and its bezel is shaped with six distinctive “claws”. The blue dial features a Clous de Paris motif with rhodium-plated indexes and hands treated with white Super-LumiNova. The dial sits under a sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating, and a screwed crown contributes to water resistance of 20 ATM. Inside is the automatic ML115 caliber, which runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour with 26 jewels and offers a 38-hour power reserve.

The watch shows hours, minutes and central seconds, with a date window at 3 o’clock. An open caseback with sapphire glass and an anti-reflective coating reveals the rhodium-plated movement, which is decorated with perlage and colimaçon, along with Côtes de Genève on the rotor. The watch comes on an integrated stainless steel bracelet that is 25 mm wide at the case. This reference is also compatible with the brand’s Easy Strap Exchange system, which allows the bracelet to be swapped for Maurice Lacroix straps. Combined with a screwed crown and a 20 ATM rating, this makes it suitable for daily wear. The official United States list price is USD 2,800.

Reviewers mostly praise the Aikon Automatic’s case and bracelet finishing for the price. Two Broke Watch Snobs called the bracelet “easily the star of this piece.” WristReview noted that its thin profile slips under a shirt cuff and that its short lug-to-lug keeps it from overhanging the wrist. The design draws heavily on the Royal Oak, which divides opinion. Some reviewers see it as a distinct watch, while others dismiss it as an homage. Other common criticisms include a Sellita-based movement that some feel does not match the price, average lume, and integrated lugs that limit strap choice to the brand’s own options. One reviewer also reported accidentally changing the date while setting the time. The Aikon Automatic 42mm is currently in production.
