The Laventure Marine Type 3 is a titanium tool watch with a chronometer movement, designed after 1980s marine chronometers. The lugless, tonneau-shaped case is grade 23 titanium with a tribofinished, stonewashed surface. It measures 38 mm in diameter, 11.2 mm thick (8.9 mm without the crystal) and 46.2 mm lug to lug, and it is water-resistant to 300 m. A fixed oversized bezel carries 60 graduations filled with black lacquer. It has an 8 mm screw-down crown and a domed Plexiglas crystal. The dial has two layers on a soft-iron base plate, which, with a surrounding ring and the movement cover, forms an anti-magnetic Faraday cage. The movement is Laventure’s Calibre 4, made by Sellita from the SW300-1. It has 25 jewels, beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz), has 56 hours of power reserve and is COSC-certified to -4/+6 seconds per day. It shows hours, minutes and seconds, with no date.
Laventure is a small brand founded in 2017 by Clément Gaud and based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The middle-case shape comes from its earlier Marine models, but the Type 3 takes a more brutalist tool-watch approach. There are two mirror-image dials. The white version has a full Super-LumiNova top plate with black printing, and the black version has a galvanic black plate with luminous printing and lumed white hands. Each watch comes with a PFKM rubber strap with a titanium pin buckle and an elastic textile strap. Launched in mid-2025, it costs CHF 4,200 excluding taxes, about USD 5,270 according to Gear Patrol. Production is 100 numbered pieces per dial colour per year.
Monochrome’s Brice Goulard said the watch caught him by surprise and praised its focused character, build quality and components. He admitted the price feels high but argued that low-volume, fully Swiss production justifies it. Gear Patrol found the look enigmatic but alluring and praised the decision to use a COSC-certified movement. It called the bezel scale more aesthetic than functional. Monochrome readers were more critical, mainly about the CHF 4,200 price compared with Tudor and Seiko, the Plexiglas crystal, the small dial and a resemblance to Luminox. The Marine Type 3 was launched as a yearly limited series of 100 pieces per dial colour, and as of October 2026 no discontinuation has been reported.
