About this watch

The Girard-Perregaux Laureato, launched in 1975, is an integrated-bracelet sports watch with an octagonal bezel set over a round case. The first generation was a quartz watch in a steel case with a steel bracelet that flows out of the case, and a textured dial. It arrived during the same years as the Royal Oak and the Nautilus, and Girard-Perregaux’s own quartz expertise made it one of the earliest quartz luxury sports watches.

The octagon-over-circle bezel, with a pattern of slim grooves in the bezel, is the shape the Laureato kept through every later version. The first model was a small commercial success and stayed in the shadow of its better-known rivals, and the line was revived in the 1990s and 2010s.

Collectors now see the 1975 original as an underrated 1970s sport-luxury watch, and the modern Laureato has become Girard-Perregaux’s flagship. The original quartz model is no longer made, but the Laureato collection remains in production.
