The Farer Lander IV 39.5mm is the British brand’s flagship GMT, named after the explorer Richard Lander and produced in its signature sea-green colourway. The case is made of 316L marine-grade stainless steel, with polished sides and bezel and brushed lugs. It measures 39.5 mm in diameter, 11.3 mm thick in Farer‘s specification table, 45 mm lug to lug and 20 mm between the lugs. The triple-stepped sunray dial has ghost-white numerals over-printed with Super-LumiNova and a colour-matched date window, all under a boxed sapphire crystal with internal anti-reflective coating. The Swiss-made Sellita SW330-2 ‘Top Grade’ automatic beats at 28,800 vph, has 25 jewels and offers about 56 hours of power reserve. Water resistance is 100 metres.
The movement shows hours, minutes, central seconds, the date and a second time zone through a 24-hour GMT hand in British pillar-box red, read against a 24-hour scale printed outside the hour markers. It also offers a stop-seconds function for precise time setting and quick date correction. The re-engineered monobloc case has a screw-down crown with a solid bronze cap embossed with the Farer ‘A’, and an exhibition caseback shows the movement. The standard fitting is a St. Venere leather strap with a 316L stainless steel buckle, while Farer also offers suede, rubber and Milanese mesh alternatives in regular and long sizes. Farer lists the watch at $1,575 in the United States, with a five-year guarantee.
Reviewers consistently highlight the Lander IV’s colour and detailing: the iridescent sea-green dial, the orange seconds hand and red GMT hand, the matching date wheel, the bronze crown cap and the compact 39.5 mm case that slips under a shirt cuff. The SW330-2 movement and the move to a screw-down crown are also seen as meaningful upgrades. Common reservations are that the SW330-2 is a ‘caller’ GMT rather than a ‘flyer’ with an independently adjustable local hour hand, that the dial is printed rather than applied, and that the price is high compared with some microbrand GMT rivals. The Lander IV 39.5mm remains in production: it is listed in Farer‘s current catalogue, currently on pre-order and shipping from mid-February 2027.
