The De Bethune DB28 is a manual-wind watch in a titanium case of about 42.6 mm and 9.3 mm thick, with the “floating lugs” typical of the brand. It runs the hand-finished calibre DB2115, which has a power reserve of 144 hours, shown on the back, a spherical moon phase and a titanium balance with a silicon escape wheel. Sources date the launch to 2010 or 2011 and the CSV lists 2010; the exact specification varies between editions.
The DB28 won the Aiguille d’Or at the 2011 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, the competition’s top prize. It is the watch that put De Bethune in front of a broad collector audience, with a dial that combines a polished and blued steel hand set and a triangular bridge in the movement.
Collectors regard the DB28 as one of the finest watches of its generation, valued for its original shape and its watchmaking. The DB28 name is still in the catalogue, including a smaller DB28 XS released in 2023.
