The Daniel Roth Tourbillon Souscription, reference DR0011YG-01, is a hand-wound one-minute tourbillon in the brand’s double-ellipse case. The case is made of 18k 3N yellow gold, measures 38.6 mm by 35.5 mm and is 9.2 mm thick, with a sapphire crystal, a solid caseback secured by four screws and 30 m water resistance. The dial is solid yellow gold with clous de Paris guilloché cut on a hand-operated straight-line engine, a silver chapter ring with blue Roman numerals, and an open aperture at 6 o’clock showing the tourbillon over a base finished with Côtes de Genève. The movement is the calibre DR001, developed and assembled by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. It runs at 21,600 vph (3 Hz), has an 80-hour power reserve and displays hours, minutes and seconds on the tourbillon carriage.
The watch marked the return of Daniel Roth under Louis Vuitton ownership and was unveiled at LVMH Watch Week in January 2024. Its design closely follows the C186 and C187 tourbillons that Daniel Roth made in the 1990s, keeping their case size and the slim profile of the C186, which also had a closed back. A modern typeface printed in blue replaces the serif lettering of the originals. The watch is fitted with a calfskin strap and pin buckle. It was limited to 20 numbered pieces at CHF 140,000 excluding taxes, delivered during 2024 through selected Daniel Roth retail partners. A non-limited Tourbillon in rose gold followed at Geneva Watch Days 2024.
Collectors and press welcomed the revival. SJX judged the guilloché dial to be of evidently top quality, found the finishing of the tourbillon base an improvement on the originals and considered the DR001 a more substantial achievement than the Lemania-based calibres of the 1990s watches. SJX also called the closed caseback something of a shame and felt the movement carried too many decorative flourishes, such as a linear click combined with gold chatons. Time and Tide praised the finishing of the tourbillon cage and the blue lettering, while preferring the serif markings of the originals and disliking the lowercase lettering of the edition number. All 20 pieces sold out shortly after launch, so the Tourbillon Souscription is a limited edition that is sold out and no longer available from the brand as of October 2026.
