The Cartier Privé Tank à Guichets is a rectangular jump-hour watch that shows the time through two openings, or guichets, in a closed brushed metal face. A window at 12 o’clock displays the jumping hour and an arched aperture at 6 o’clock shows the dragging minutes, with the numerals in red on the platinum model. The case measures 37.6 mm by 24.8 mm and is 6 mm thick, with a polished chamfer along the flanks and around the lugs, a sapphire crystal and a fluted crown at 12 o’clock between the lugs. It runs on calibre 9755 MC, a hand-wound Cartier movement with an integrated jump-hour mechanism, beating at 21,600 vph (3 Hz) with a power reserve of about 40 hours, according to Watches by SJX.
Cartier introduced the line at Watches and Wonders in April 2025. It returns to the layout of the 1928 original, which also had its crown at 12, whereas the earlier Collection Privée Cartier Paris version used a conventional crown at 3. The regular references are WGTA0236 in 950 platinum on a burgundy alligator strap, WGTA0234 in yellow gold and WGTA0235 in rose gold, each with a matching metal pin buckle. A platinum limited edition of 200 pieces, WGTA0237, rotates the movement so the apertures sit at an angle for reading while driving. US prices are USD 55,500 for platinum, USD 47,700 for either gold and USD 61,000 for the limited edition.
The release was one of the most discussed at Watches and Wonders 2025, and outlets such as WatchTime covered it alongside a wider revival of jump-hour watches that year. Watches by SJX called it one of its favourite Tank iterations and praised the case finishing, especially the polished bevels around the apertures. The same review called the movement industrial in finish, considered the price steep for a time-only watch, and judged the angled limited edition half-hearted because its hour numerals sit 90 degrees off vertical. Professional Watches described the prices as shockingly high. As of October 2026 the platinum, yellow gold and rose gold references are regular Cartier Privé production, while the 200-piece WGTA0237 is a limited edition.
