Anish Dandwani is the founder and creative lead of the Delhi Watch Company (DWC), a prominent microbrand based in Gurugram, India. Born around 1996, Dandwani’s interest in horology began at age 14, fueled by observing his father’s passion for timepieces and early experiences collecting watches from the historic Chandni Chowk market in Delhi.
Dandwani pursued higher education in London, where he studied International Management at SOAS University of London. During his time there, he immersed himself in the city’s vintage watch scene, handling pieces from historic brands like Omega and Rolex. This period shaped his understanding of watch mechanics and design before he returned to India to begin a corporate career.
In late 2019, Dandwani left his corporate role to follow his passion for watchmaking. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertain future of the iconic Indian brand HMT served as catalysts for his entrepreneurial journey. He officially established the Delhi Watch Company in 2020 with the goal of preserving Indian watchmaking heritage while offering high-quality, affordable mechanical and quartz timepieces to a new generation of enthusiasts.
Under Dandwani’s leadership, DWC has gained significant recognition for its storytelling-driven designs. Notable releases include the “Vayu,” which honors Indian aviation history; the “Havelock,” a dive watch inspired by the Andaman Islands; and the “Devanagari Chronograph,” which features indices in the Devanagari script. In 2024, he collaborated with designer Ishaan Vajpai to launch the “Terra,” a grade 2 titanium field watch that gained international attention for its unique construction and accessible price point.
As an enthusiast-turned-founder, Dandwani emphasizes a customer-centric approach, often incorporating feedback from the watch-wearing community into his designs. As of early 2026, he continues to guide DWC’s expansion, with plans to open experience centers in India and develop a luxury line titled “Quest.” Through his work, Dandwani has become a key figure in the revival and modernization of the Indian independent watch industry.
