Amr Sindi is a Saudi Arabian watch collector, consultant, and entrepreneur who has become a prominent figure in the independent horology scene. Raised in Switzerland, Sindi’s interest in watchmaking began in childhood, eventually leading him to the online enthusiast community. He gained early recognition as a moderator on the horological forum TimeZone.com, becoming the youngest person to hold the position in the site’s history.
Professionally, Sindi transitioned into the watch industry, serving as the social media manager for Hublot during the early stages of digital marketing in horology. Over the following decade, he established himself as an industry consultant, working with various brands on communication strategy and product development. He is widely known by his digital persona, The Horophile, through which he shares his eclectic collection and photography, often highlighting independent watchmakers and unconventional aesthetics.
Beyond consulting, Sindi has been a frequent collaborator on limited-edition timepieces. He has lent his design input to projects with brands such as H. Moser & Cie, Dietrich, Sartory Billard, and Raketa. These collaborations often feature his signature preference for vibrant colors, particularly purple, and a focus on bringing established brands out of their traditional design comfort zones.
In 2020, Sindi co-founded Kollokium alongside industry veterans Manuel Emch and Barth Nussbaumer. Described by its founders as a project-based platform or an anti-brand rather than a traditional watch company, Kollokium focuses on neubrutalist design and alternative manufacturing processes. The project’s debut release, the Projekt 01, features a die-cast steel case and a three-dimensional pixelated dial, reflecting Sindi’s commitment to creative freedom and transparency in the watchmaking industry. Sindi remains an active voice in the collector community, continuing to advocate for independent watchmaking through his various professional and personal endeavors.
