The story of Adriaan Trampe
Adriaan Trampe is a Swiss watchmaker of Dutch origin. He trained as a watchmaker in Schoonhoven in the Netherlands and became known as a reviver of dormant historical brands. In 2016, together with fellow Dutch entrepreneur Diederik van Golen, he relaunched Eza Watches, originally founded in Pforzheim, Germany, in 1921. Trampe led the brand as its principal figure and was its owner before moving on to his next project.
In 2022 he revived Hercules, the brand historically known as Henzi & Pfaff, founded in 1946 by Robert Henzi and Robert Pfaff. He moved it to the Swiss Jura mountains and repositioned it as a high-end independent around the idea of “Luxury Alpinism”. The relaunch draws on the 1953 first solo ascent of Nanga Parbat by Hermann Buhl, who wore a Hercules timepiece.
The two brands show how his approach differs. Eza pairs vintage-inspired designs with Swiss movements at accessible prices. Hercules goes further upmarket, with rare materials such as tantalum, certified chronometer performance and engraved topographic detail.
