Nautage is an independent Danish watch brand founded in 2019 by brothers Christian Schjoll and Allan Junge Jensen. Based in Hellerup, near Copenhagen, the brand was born from the founders’ shared passion for design and entrepreneurship. Christian, an architect and designer, and Allan, an entrepreneur with experience in startup management, spent over two years developing their initial concept to create a modern interpretation of the classic professional dive watch.
The brand’s identity is deeply rooted in Nordic design traditions, characterized by clean lines, functional simplicity, and a “less is more” aesthetic. The name Nautage itself is a portmanteau of “Astronaut,” representing exploration and curiosity, and “Age,” representing time. This philosophy informs their approach to watchmaking, which focuses on creating robust, reliable tools for everyday adventure without the need for status-driven logos or flashy marketing.
Enthusiasts are drawn to Nautage for its high-specification components offered at an accessible price point. The watches are recognized for their cohesive and original design language, which avoids being a direct homage to established luxury models. Collectors appreciate details such as the bead-blasted 316L stainless steel cases, high-grade Super-LumiNova, and the use of premium automatic movements like the Miyota 9039. The brand’s commitment to small-batch production and its direct engagement with the enthusiast community on social media have further established its reputation as a transparent and passion-driven microbrand.
The brand’s catalog is centered on its flagship dive watch series. The original Nautage Diver (also known as the DA221) established the core specifications for the brand, featuring a 41mm case, 200 meters of water resistance, and a distinctive integrated rubber strap system. This model is noted for its unique bezel design featuring stencil-style markers and three silver dots, as well as an exhibition caseback with a “porthole” design. Building on this success, the Diver II Automatic refines the original aesthetic while maintaining the same professional-grade durability. Both models utilize a slim case design and are available in various colorways, often paired with vulcanized NBR rubber straps designed to withstand saltwater and UV exposure.
