Balmont

Balmont is a French independent watch brand that emerged in 2023, positioning itself at the intersection of classic horology and modern adventure. The brand is the result of a collaboration between experienced watch industry veterans based in France, including Benjamin Chamfeuil, the founder of the watch brand Vasco, and Ludovic Barrois, the creator of the prominent French watch blog Le Petit Poussoir. Their shared expertise led to the creation of a brand that emphasizes robust specifications and versatile design.

The brand has gained attention within the enthusiast community for its “Natureproof” philosophy, offering timepieces designed to endure harsh environments while maintaining a classic aesthetic suitable for urban wear. A distinctive aspect of the brand’s identity is its unique “treasure hunt” concept. Each year, the Balmont team travels to a remote location to hide a unique, one-of-a-kind version of their watch in an airtight capsule. Purchasers of Balmont watches receive a “mission briefing” with GPS coordinates and topographical data, inviting them to undertake an expedition to find the hidden timepiece.

Balmont’s initial offerings are centered on the BDX series and the LAX limited edition. These watches feature 40mm stainless steel cases, 200 meters of water resistance, and sapphire crystals. They are powered by the Swiss-made Soprod P024 automatic movement. Key pieces include the BDX001 (black dial) and BDX004 (white dial), both of which feature ceramic-coated dials and riveted indices. Another notable model is the LAX001, a limited edition of 100 pieces featuring a California-style dial with a gilt effect and cream-toned Super-LumiNova, designed as a nod to vintage aviation aesthetics.
