Anoma

Anoma is a London-based independent watch brand that has gained significant attention in the horological world since its launch in 2024. Founded by Matteo Violet-Vianello, the brand is built on a philosophy of viewing timepieces as “wearable sculptures.” Violet-Vianello, who has a professional background in rare watches through his work at Sotheby’s and the specialist platform A Collected Man, established Anoma to explore more experimental and daring designs that break away from traditional watchmaking constraints. While the brand is headquartered in London, its timepieces are manufactured in Switzerland, ensuring a high standard of mechanical quality.

The brand’s identity is defined by its focus on sculptural, asymmetrical forms rather than conventional round cases. Collectors and enthusiasts are drawn to Anoma specifically for this design-centric approach, which draws heavy inspiration from mid-century art and architecture. The signature “pebble-like” triangular case shape was famously inspired by a 1950s free-form table designed by Charlotte Perriand, as well as the modernist sculptures of Constantin Brâncusi. This focus on form and proportions provides an instantly recognizable aesthetic that appeals to those who prioritize artistic expression and unique wrist presence over standard horological heritage.

The primary focus of Anoma’s catalog is the A1 series. This collection is characterized by its rounded, lug-less triangular case made of 316L stainless steel and its hidden crown, which preserves the purity of the organic silhouette. Key pieces within this lineup include the inaugural A1 First Series, which features a multi-layered lacquered blue dial, and the A1 Slate. The brand also introduced the A1 Optical, which utilizes an intricately engraved dial inspired by “Op Art” to create a sense of movement through visual illusion. Recently, the brand moved from strictly limited editions to establishing the A1 Core Collection, featuring the A1 Abyss and A1 Stone models. These watches are typically powered by the Swiss-made Sellita SW100 automatic movement, combining unconventional design with reliable mechanical performance.
